Shame has a way of convincing you it's the truest thing about you. These verses say otherwise.

“There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.”
Romans 8:1 (KJV)
“Fear not; for thou shalt not be ashamed: neither be thou confounded; for thou shalt not be put to shame: for thou shalt forget the shame of thy youth.”
Isaiah 54:4 (KJV)“They looked unto him, and were lightened: and their faces were not ashamed.”
Psalm 34:5 (KJV)Shame tends to speak in absolutes — always, never, you'll always be this. Romans 8:1 answers in an equally absolute way: no condemnation, not 'less condemnation' or 'eventually no condemnation.' It doesn't say the thing you did wasn't real. It says it isn't the final verdict on who you are, if you're standing in Christ rather than under the weight of your own record.
