Bible Verses for Trusting God with Your Children

Trusting God with your children is one of the hardest forms of faith there is. These verses are for that specific surrender.

// the word for this moment

“Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it.”

Proverbs 22:6 (KJV)

More Scripture for trusting God with your children

“And all thy children shall be taught of the LORD; and great shall be the peace of thy children.”

Isaiah 54:13 (KJV)

“Lo, children are an heritage of the LORD: and the fruit of the womb is his reward.”

Psalm 127:3 (KJV)

What this means for you

Psalm 127:3 calls children a heritage of the LORD — not your heritage, but His. Which means your children were His before they were yours, and they remain in His hands even when they're in your arms. Proverbs 22:6 is a promise about formation, not a guarantee of every outcome — but it is a reassurance that what you pour into a child matters and doesn't simply disappear. Isaiah 54:13 promises that your children will be taught of the Lord. That's not entirely in your control. It's also not entirely dependent on you.

A prayer for this moment

Lord, I love my children in a way that makes trusting You with them one of the hardest things I do. Help me remember that they are Yours first — that I am stewarding something precious that ultimately belongs to You. Keep Your hand on them in the places I can't reach. Let Your teaching in their lives supplement and outlast mine. Give me the faith to open my hands a little more. Amen.
