Bible Verses for Infertility

This is a grief that's easy to carry alone. These verses were written for women who waited, too.

// the word for this moment

“He maketh the barren woman to keep house, and to be a joyful mother of children. Praise ye the LORD.”

Psalm 113:9 (KJV)

More Scripture for infertility and longing for a child

“For this child I prayed; and the LORD hath given me my petition which I asked of him.”

1 Samuel 1:27 (KJV)

“And God remembered Rachel, and God hearkened to her, and opened her womb.”

Genesis 30:22 (KJV)

What this means for you

Scripture doesn't look away from this ache — Hannah, Sarah, Rachel, Elizabeth all waited, some for years, some praying through tears no one else saw. Their stories aren't included as quick wins; they're included because God meets people in exactly this waiting. Psalm 113 doesn't explain why the wait happens. It simply says God sees the barren woman, and is not distant from her.

A prayer for this moment

Lord, this longing is heavy, and some days it's hard to even pray about it plainly. You remembered Hannah. You remembered Rachel. I'm asking You to remember me too — not as a statistic, but as someone You see. Hold me in the waiting rooms and the hard months. Whatever this season becomes, stay close to me in it. Amen.
