*Loneliness* The worst thing about not having a mate is; existing without being truly seen, of living without being understood for one's uniqueness. That's why God said in Genesis, "It is not good for the man to be alone." Not "it is not good for man to suffer" or "for man to sin," but "to be alone." Adam wasn't technically alone. He was surrounded by every kind of living creature, in a garden. Yet something about his condition was fundamentally "not good." When Eve was formed, Adam exclaimed: "This at last!" Not "this is nice" or "I like this one," but "at last"—as if he had waited eons for someone who could reflect his image, recognize his nature, see his soul. The Hebrew literally says: "Zot hapa'am"—"this time!" As if all the previous times—with every animal God had brought him—had been failed attempts to find a true companion. The issue now is waiting on your 'true companion'; not substitutes like Lilith, Delilah, Hagar, Leah, Bilhah, Zilpah, David, Laban, Amnon or Judas Iscariot. Don't pull a fast one either like Tamar, tricking her father in law to bear her sons. But be a Ruth, Esther, Boaz, Onan, or Joseph (Jesus's earthly father).
