*How to become a 'Child' of God* After I recommited my life to Christ I have always had a problem with my Pastor calling me 'woman of God'; even to this day. Before I can be a woman of God, I first have to be a child of God. Here's how I intend to try: 1. Absolute Dependence for Survival A toddler doesn’t worry about buying groceries, paying the mortgage, or protecting the house; they completely trust that their parents will provide food, shelter, and safety. *The Spiritual Parallel*: Being a child of God means resting in complete trust. You acknowledge that you cannot control everything or sustain your own life. You rely on God for your daily needs, emotional comfort, and ultimate security, letting go of adult anxiety. 2. Radical Vulnerability and Honesty When a child scrapes their knee or gets scared, they don't hide their feelings or try to look put-together. They run straight to their parent, crying openly, expecting comfort. *The Spiritual Parallel*: You don't have to clean yourself up or pretend to be perfect before praying. Being a child of God means approaching Him with raw honesty—bringing Him your doubts, anger, hurts, and failures, knowing He won't reject you for being weak. 3. Eagerness to Imitate Children naturally copy their parents. You will see a child putting on their parent's shoes, mimicking their phrases, or trying to do chores just like them. *The Spiritual Parallel*: Your spiritual growth comes from imitation, not just rule-following. Because you love and admire your heavenly Father, you naturally want to mimic His character—showing His love, His kindness, and His capacity to forgive to the people around you. 4. Learning Through Boundaries and Discipline A good parent establishes boundaries (like "don't touch the hot stove") out of love, not to ruin the child's fun. When a child disobeys, a loving parent corrects them to protect them and teach them how to grow into a healthy person.
