C.S. Lewis, facing the question of why God would give us a freedom we could misuse, answered that free will “is also the only thing that makes possible any love or goodness or joy worth having.” A world of creatures that could not refuse Him, he said, would hardly have been worth creating. A creature that cannot refuse you cannot love you either. God knew that before He made us. He made us free, and left the door open. God, who made us in His image and told us to grow (Genesis 1:27–28), was never interested in manufactured devotion. He wanted the real thing, which meant risking us walking away. (Borrowed from Bible Portal. Beautiful) God bless us all.
