The reason David was so favoured by God and was called a man after His own heart is because He acknowledged God in EVERYTHING. Before every battle or undertaking, he would seek the Lord. Even when his wives and children were carried away at Ziklag, he didn’t act on impulse. He first put on his priestly garments and enquired of the Lord. This is why he was able to win battle after battle after battle. He was undefeated not because of his own strength or guile, but because of His reliance on the Lord of Hosts. He truly embodied the scripture trust in the Lord with all thy heart and lean not on thine own understanding. Acknowledge Him IN ALL THY ways and He shall make straight thy paths amen. ‎
