On The Third Day The "third day" is a monumental turning point involving creation, revelation, deliverance, and resurrection. The following outlines those instances. In Genesis 1:9–13, God gathered the waters to reveal dry land and created vegetation on the third day. Later in Genesis, Abraham saw Mount Moriah in the distance on the third day of his journey to sacrifice Isaac (Genesis 22:4), Pharaoh restored his chief cupbearer on the third day (Genesis 40:20), and Joseph released his brothers from custody on the third day (Genesis 42:18). During the Exodus, God descended upon Mount Sinai in fire and thunder on the third day of Israel's consecration (Exodus 19:11). In the book of Joshua, the spies hid safely in the hills for three days (Joshua 2:16), and the Israelites prepared to cross the Jordan River after three days of camp preparation (Joshua 3:2).
